ABOUT THE ARTIST
Susan Penfold is an emerging artist, having undertaken her first pastel art class in 2016 as a night class with leading Darwin artist, Alison Worsnop.
In 2020 she won the Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival Jetty art prize and was highly-commended in the Katherine Art Show, and in 2023 won the Non-professional category of Plein Air Down Under. She held her first solo exhibition at Darwin Visual Arts in September 2020 and subsequently at Dom’s Bar and Songlines Gallery in Darwin. She is currently exhibited at Atelier Crafers in Adelaide.
Susan has been exploring a variety of media including sketching, digital, acrylic and oil; but has found that pastel currently best expresses her voice. Her practice encompasses animals and people, and she is especially captivated by the fall of light on the landscapes and streetscapes of Australia.
