Schedule for Master Pastellist and Accomplished Pastellist  Applications

1.  February – Decide and Plan

  • Reflect on whether you wish to apply for AP or MP status this year.

  • If yes, begin planning your application process.
     

2.  Find a Mentor

  • Select a mentor to guide and advise you (minimum mentoring period: 6 months recommended).

  • Confirm your mentor choice with the panel coordinator.
     

3.  Develop Your Skills

  • Meet with your mentor to outline your pathway.

  • Follow their guidance and seek out additional tutors or resources to strengthen your application.
     

4.  Prepare Your Application

  • Ensure your application meets all requirements as listed in the guidelines.

  • Reach out to the panel coordinator if you need clarification.
     

5.  Submit Your Application – September 30th

  • Submit your completed application via the PSA website under the "Membership Levels" tab.

  • You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging your submission.
     

6.  Stage One Outcome – November

  • By the end of November, you will be notified if you are selected to proceed to Stage Two.
     

7.  Stage Two Submission – March

  • If successful in Stage One, you will receive a detailed email with submission instructions, including your due date and the delivery address.

  • Submit your Stage Two materials by the specified deadline in March of the following year.

Becoming an Accomplished Pastellist or Master Pastellist with the PSA

The Pastel Society of Australia (PSA) offers two prestigious levels of accreditation: Accomplished Pastellist and Master Pastellist. Below is an overview of the process for each.

Accomplished Pastellist:

Eligibility:

Must be a PSA member for at least 1 year.

Requirements:

Submit a portfolio demonstrating competency in two pastel genres.

Provide a CV and explain how you contribute to PSA Inc.

Find a PSA mentor to guide you through the process.

Pay the application fee.

Application Process:

Submit all required documents and digital images online.

Wait for notification on progression to Stage Two.

Stage Two:

Submit physical artworks and a folder for assessment.

Wait for results.

Benefits:

Recognition of excellence in pastel work.

A stepping-stone toward Master Pastellist.

Opportunity to assist with PSA member activities.

Master Pastellist:

Eligibility:

Must be a PSA member for at least 3 years.

Requirements:

Submit a portfolio demonstrating expertise in three pastel genres.

Provide a CV and showcase your contributions to the PSA and the community.

Find a PSA mentor to guide you through the process.

Pay the application fee.

Application Process:

Submit all required documents and images.

Participate in a panel review.

Benefits:

Recognition for sustained excellence in pastel art across multiple genres.

Significant personal and professional recognition.

Mentorship and support for other members.

Involvement in promoting PSA in the wider art community.
