Hettie Rowley was born in South Africa and retains a deep love of African flora and fauna, which is reflected in many of her award-winning works. She also has a passion for portraits, still-life and figurative work. Her techniques encompass fine detail in every medium, be it watercolor, pastels, pencil work or any other medium. 


During a career spanning forty years, Hettie has delivered many commissioned works over the years, and especially portraits of loved ones, beloved pets and other personally oriented paintings. These works have become family treasures that preserve the treasure of memories that are so important to all of us. She also teaches and has won high acclaim for developing the latent talents of her students.


Hettie Rowley is a Master Pastellist with the Pastel Society of Australia. She brings an enormous amount of knowledge and experience to her workshops. With a background in  graphic design, she has honed her skills in creating captivating portraits and animal artworks that celebrate the beauty and individuality of her subjects. 


Hettie’s workshops are known  for their relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging participants of all skill levels to explore and grow. Her passion for soft pastels and live portraiture shines through as she shares tips, techniques, and insights to help students bring their art to life
