Workshop Details

This is a workshop to expand the use of pastel. We will look at brief theory of design, particularly for collage; how pastel can be used as a wet medium as well as dry; pastel techniques especially stroke-making; pastel underpaintings; and brief colour theory, working over the two days on exercises and one larger landscape work. Participants can choose to work in a traditional manner or a more contemporary approach. Tricia’s teaching process includes theory, handouts and demonstrations

Tutor Information:

Tricia Reust is a visual artist working in most media.

A member of several art societies and immediate Past President of the Pastel Society of Australia (PSA), Tricia is a Master Pastellist with the PSA and a Life Member of the Redcliffe Art Society. 


Regularly exhibiting annually with these and other societies, Tricia has also had over twenty solo exhibitions. Awards include the National Mortimore Prize in 2012, and 2nd Prize and Honourable

Mention in the 10th International Drawing Biennale.

2024 awards include Best in Show (as well as Viewers’ Choice) in Blackall and First in Pastel at Burdekin.

In 2003 Tricia was awarded the Centenary Medal for Service to Education and the Arts.


Tricia has recorded two episodes on the “Colour in Your Life” television programme and consequently has her work in a time capsule on the moon (Lunar Codex 2024).

Having published two books and recorded several instructional videos. Tricia is a popular art tutor and travels throughout Australia and beyond with this teaching.


Collections include the Gold Coast City Art Gallery, Moreton Bay Regional Council, Caloundra City Council, Redcliffe mayoral Portrait Collection, Redcliffe Dolphins Club Collection, as well as Private Collections throughout Australia and overseas.
