Hettie Rowley: Soft Pastel Portraits: Capturing Character from Life

Join us for a relaxed and creative two-day workshop where we’ll dive into painting portraits with soft pastels, using a live sitter as our inspiration. Whether you’re just getting comfortable with drawing/painting or already have some experience, this workshop is all about learning and having fun.

We’ll cover everything from sketching out the basics to exploring colour, light, and texture to bring your portrait to life. It’s a supportive environment to experiment, improve your skills, and enjoy the process of capturing a real person on paper. Hettie Rowley is a Master Pastellist with the Pastel Society of Australia. She brings an enormous amount of knowledge and experience to her workshops. With a background in graphic design, she has honed her skills in creating captivating portraits and animal artworks that celebrate the beauty and individuality of her subjects. 

Hettie’s workshops are known for their relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging participants of all skill levels to explore and grow. Her passion for soft pastels and live portraiture shines through as she shares tips, techniques, and insights to help students bring their art to life.
