ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am a practicing artist and painting teacher. My major interests are painting in Oils and Soft Pastels. I attended Swinburne Art School in Melbourne and my early training was in traditional drawing and painting and working as a graphic artist,
I studied for a degree in Fine Art majoring in painting at Newcastle University in 2001. All have had an influence on my current style of painting.
Drawing is a strong component of my work and my subjects include Maritime harbour scenes, seascapes and landscapes, they are informed by nature, light and atmosphere. I prefer intimate scenes rather than vast landscapes, looking for interesting light passages shapes and tonal contrast. Soft Pastels are my main medium and experimenting to find different ways of applying them keeps my enthusiasm high.
