Our Purpose, Vision, and Mission

Purpose

To celebrate and promote the art of pastel painting in Australia and beyond.

Vision

To be a leading and respected organisation that fosters the use of pastels for artistic expression, education, and enjoyment.

Mission

Through workshops, demonstrations, competitions, and events, we aim to advance the art and appreciation of pastel painting.

The Beginning

The Pastel Society of Australia was founded in 1985 by Ivy and John Jeffery, passionate advocates for pastel art. They recognised the need for a community where pastel artists could connect, share knowledge, and promote the medium.

Over the years, PSA has grown into an internationally recognised organisation with a rich history of exhibitions, workshops, accreditation and member achievements.

It is now a member of the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) and its members can participate in competitions and exhibitions at an international level.
